Marina Brusnikina (maiden name Sychyova) was born on February 9, 1961 in Moscow. She studied at Moscow Art Theatre School in Oleg Yefremov’s class. In 1985, she joined the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre as an actress. In 1987, when the theatre was divided, Brusnikina remained at the A. Chekhov Moscow Academic Art Theatre, where she worked until 2003. As a director, she staged there such performances as "Passing Goose" (awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation), "Sonechka", "White on Black", "The Sun Was Shining", "Fast Flowing River", "Tutish", "Home of the Gentry", ”The Letter Book” "Village of fools", "Ophelia is Afraid of Water", and others. Aside from the Moscow Art Theatre, Marina Brusnikina directed at the Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre, Russian Academic Youth Theatre, Oleg Tabakov Theatre, theatres Satyricon, Mossovet, Et Cetera, Sovremennik, Sphere, and the Academic Youth Theater "Globus" in Novosibirsk. In 2018, after the death of Dmitry Brusnikin, her husband and former director of the Praktika Theatre, Marina was appointed to this position. There she staged the performances "Natasha's Dream", "The Man from Podolsk. Seryozha is Very Stupid", "Red-Nosed Frost", "To Plant a Tree", "Field", "Unhappy Moscow". An important part of Marina Brusnikina’s life is teaching. She began teaching stage speech at the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1988; since 2002 she has been teaching acting skills. At the present time Brusnikina is the head of the Stage Speech Department at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Since 2000, Brusnikina has been directing the literary cycle "Evenings of the Moscow Art Theatre", which allows the audience to hear contemporary prose and poetry performed by artists of different generations. For creating the cycle she received “The Crystal Rose of Victor Rozov” award. In the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum collection there are photos, posters, and programs of performances staged by Marina Brusnikina at various Moscow theaters, programs for the play "My Marusechka" staged in the Novosibirsk Youth Theater "Globus", as well as a model of scenery for the play "Lada, or Joy" in the Russian Academic Youth Theatre that was awarded the Russian Government Prize in culture and arts.
