The exhibition takes place as part of the 2nd Biennale of Theatrical Art.
The aim of the exhibition is to acquaint visitors with Armenian scenography. Performances in question were staged in Armenian as well as in Russian theatres. The exhibition represents works from the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum.
The exhibition curators Marina Bagdasaryan and Dmitry Rodionov have combined traditions and innovations and represented the art of Armenian theatre artists of the 20th–21st centuries.
The distinguished Armenian artists have taken center stage: Vardges Sureniants, Georgy Yakulov, Martiros Saryan, Mikael and Sarkis Arutchians, Stepan Taryan, Minas Avetisyan et al. The art of our contemporaries — Marina Azizyan, Stepan Zograbyan, Vladimir Martirosov — has been especially highlighted.
The exposition represents sketches of scenery and costumes, scale models, playbills and programs (including that of the Decades of Armenian Art in 1939 and 1956), and also photographs.
