Annotation:

A playbill for a charity festivity in Batum is connected with the disaster of 12 July 1901 at the Mikhailovsky Fortress. The explosion of a mine depot killed and wounded officers and lower-ranking servicemen, and the catastrophe received wide coverage in the press, which reported damage across the city, including damaged houses and numerous casualties. On 1 October 1901, the garrison of the Mikhailovsky Fortress organized a festivity "for the benefit of the families of lower-ranking servicemen who had suffered in the explosion." The playbill records an example of a charitable theatrical and musical event organized within a military milieu to support the families of fellow servicemen affected by the disaster.
