At the end of January 1910, Paris experienced a catastrophic flood and the disaster provoked a broad international response. The program of the charity performance organized by the Moscow municipal administration at the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre on 10 February 1910 testifies to the Russian stage’s involvement in international relief practices. The title page specifically emphasizes that “all proceeds from the performance are to be donated for the benefit of those affected by the flooding in France”. The program included Acts III and IV of N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “Sadko”, a scene from A.N. Ostrovsky’s drama “Dmitry the Pretender and Vasily Shuisky”, and one act from the ballet “The Little Humpbacked Horse”. The participation of A.V. Nezhdanova, M.N. Yermolova, A.I. Yuzhin, and A.M. Balashova underscored the special significance of the evening.
