Brocard & Co. was a Moscow perfume and cosmetics manufacturing partnership, established in 1893 as a continuation of the business founded by Henri Brocard in 1864. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was among Russia’s largest perfume companies. The vignettes on the cover, title page, and throughout the book, as well as the headpieces, initials, and other design elements, were created by the artist Boris Zvorykin (some with his monogram, “B.Z.” or “Б.З.”).
