Bakhrushina Kira. 1906-1968

Biography:

Kira Semina (nee Bakhrushina) was the daughter of Alexei Bakhrushin. She was born in the village of Ivanovskoye in Moscow Province, into the family of a well-known patron of the arts and collector. A brief recollection of her childhood was preserved in the memoirs of her brother, Yuri Bakhrushin. He wrote: “It is a curious fact that my sister…during the first year or two of her life, could not tolerate the color red. As soon as someone appeared before her in a red dress, she would begin to cry convulsively. This happened especially often with my godmother, who wore a bright red woolen shawl”. In the 1950s, she worked as an interpreter on the fishing flagship “Pamyati Ilyicha” (“In Memory of Ilyich”), participating in international fishing expeditions. In the 1960s, she worked at the Polar Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. Photographs of Kira Bakhrushina, as well as her personal letters, are preserved in the collection of the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum.
