Vasily Pomerantsev was a Russian stage actor of the Moscow dramatic scene. Born in 1736, he began acting in 1766 at the Moscow Public Theatre. In 1780, the actor moved to Medoks's Petrovsky Theatre and began teaching at the Moscow Orphanage. From 1791 to 1794, he taught acting to the actors of Count Sheremetev's serf theatre. He retired from the stage in 1807. Vasily Pomerantsev's best roles were considered to be noble fathers in dramas and comedies. Among his most famous parts were Baron Hartley and Bartholo in the plays "Eugenia" and "The Marriage of Figaro" by Pierre Beaumarchais, Odoardo in "Emilia Galotti" by Gotthold Lessing, and Prostodum in the comedy "The Boaster" by Yakov Knyazhnin. The online collection of the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum features a portrait of Vasily Pomerantsev.
