Semyon Semyonov-Samarsky (born Rosenberg) was a Russian opera singer (bass-baritone), stage actor, director, and impresario. He began his creative path in the Odessa operetta. In 1887, he performed in Yekaterinburg in Pyotr Medvedev's troupe. In 1890–1891, he opened his own troupe, the "Russian Comic Opera and Operetta", in Ufa. It was here that Fyodor Shalyapin began his stage career. Later, the artist performed successfully in Baku, Tiflis, Kazan, Saint Petersburg, Penza, and Orel, working in both opera and drama genres. His repertoire included roles such as Count di Luna in "Il Trovatore", Albert in "La Juive", Mephistopheles in "Faust", and operetta roles.
