Oleg Tabakov was an outstanding Soviet and Russian stage and film actor, theatre director, pedagogue, People's Artist of the USSR. Born in 1935 in Saratov, he received his professional education at the School-Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre under the guidance of Vasily Toporkov. Oleg Tabakov's theatrical path was inextricably linked to the creation and development of new theatrical forms. In 1957, he became one of the founders of the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre, where he debuted in the production of "Forever Alive" and remained a leading artist until 1983. In 1977, Tabakov organized an educational and creative studio, which over time evolved into the Oleg Tabakov Theatre. In 1983, at the invitation of Oleg Efremov, he moved to the Moscow Art Theatre, where his first role was Salieri in the production of "Amadeus". From 2000 until the end of his life, Tabakov headed the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre as its artistic director. Under his leadership, a large-scale renewal of the repertoire and technical reconstruction of the historic stage were carried out.
