Biography:

Prince Vsevolod Dolgorukov was a Russian writer, journalist, and publisher. He belonged to the senior branch of the Dolgorukov family. He was educated at the Naval Cadet Corps, but his military career did not develop successfully, and he soon left the service. In the late 1860s, he became involved in financial fraud and in 1877 was sentenced to exile in the Tomsk province. In Siberia, he passed the necessary examinations and became a private attorney at the Tomsk District Court, while also taking part in the activities of local societies. He had been engaged in literary work since his youth. He published guidebooks, pamphlets, and poetry collections. In 1872, he issued a guide to Moscow, and later gained wider recognition for his multi-volume “Guide to the Whole of Siberia and the Central Asian Possessions of Russia”, published in the 1890s in several languages. He worked as an editor and publisher of Siberian newspapers and journals and contributed to both Russian and foreign press. The online collection of the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum holds an article written by Vsevolod Dolgorukov for the journal “Actor”.
