Alla Sizova was an outstanding Soviet and Russian ballerina and ballet pedagogue, People's Artist of the USSR. Born in 1939 in Moscow, she graduated from the Leningrad Choreographic School (now the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet) in 1958. During her studies, her first stage partner was Rudolf Nureyev. From 1958 to 1988, Alla Sizova served at the Kirov Theatre of Opera and Ballet (now the Mariinsky Theatre). Her debut took place in the role of the Queen of the Dryads in the ballet "Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus. Her repertoire featured main roles in ballets "Hamlet", "The Sleeping Beauty", "Giselle", "Romeo and Juliet", "Cinderella", "The Stone Flower", "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai", "Spartacus", and "The Firebird". Throughout her career, she performed alongside such distinguished partners as Rudolf Nureyev, Yury Solovyov, Sergei Vikulov, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Boris Blankov, and toured abroad with the theatre.
