Aroseva Olga. 1925-2013

Biography:

Olga Aleksandrovna Aroseva was a Soviet and Russian theatre and film actress, and a People's Artist of the RSFSR. Born into a diplomat's family, she spent her childhood in Europe. After returning to the USSR and her father's arrest in 1937, she remained the daughter of an "enemy of the people", but refused to renounce him. She studied at circus school, then at drama school, but never graduated from either. She was accepted into the Leningrad Comedy Theatre at the invitation of Nikolai Akimov. From 1950 until her death, she worked at the Moscow Satire Theatre, where she played approximately 40 roles in productions by Valentin Pluchek, Erast Garin, and other directors. Among her most famous theatrical roles are Felisata Kukushkina in "A Profitable Position" and Charlotte Ivanovna in "The Cherry Orchard”. She gained widespread recognition for her roles in Eldar Ryazanov's films "Beware of the Car", "Old Robbers", and "The Incredible Adventures of Italians in Russia", as well as her portrayal of Pani Monica in the television program "Pub ‘13 Chairs’". In total, she appeared in over 70 films and television series, voiced characters in animated films, and authored several memoirs. A large number of photographs of Olga Aroseva on stage and in everyday life, as well as some of her letters and books, are held in the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum.
