Alexey Bakhrushin’s house was always full of guests, many of them people of the arts. Thanks to them, the album—originally an ordinary visitors’ book—turned into a unique document whose pages have become part of cultural history today. Yuri Bakhrushin later recalled: “From the moment my father’s collection began to attract the curious, he started a special album for visitors to record their impressions. The first person he invited to make an entry was his cousin, Alexey Petrovich Bakhrushin, whom he rightly considered his immediate mentor in collecting. This entry was made on May 30, 1894, and my father later regarded this date as the official founding date of the museum.” The autograph albums of prominent visitors collected by A.A. Bakhrushin are kept in the Archive and Manuscript Department of the State Central Theatre Museum. They contain about 200 entries left by figures of Russian culture.
