Theatre director, actor, teacher, and one of the principal reformers of Russian theatre. He played his first role on the stage of the Second Moscow Art Theatre (MHAT-2) and later joined Vakhtangov Theatre. Yury Lyubimov gained wide renown as the founder and artistic director of the Taganka Theatre, which he headed in 1964.
